Drying is finished when moisture readings match an unaffected control area in the same home — not when a set number of days has passed. Anyone quoting a fixed duration before taking readings is guessing at your expense.

The honest answer is that drying finishes when the readings say the materials are dry, not on a schedule agreed in advance. But homeowners need to plan, so here are realistic ranges and the factors that move them.
Most residential losses run three to five days. Slab-adjacent and hard-surface losses run five to eight. Anything that has to save hardwood or stone can run longer still.
